Opportunity for Parent/Staff Conversation Forum on Race and Equity

Hello Falcon Families!

As we promised at the end of last school year, we are looking for interested parents to partner with Cascade Heights staff to discuss race, racism, inherent bias, social justice, allyship and so much more through books, podcasts and dialogue. Creating this forum is in response to the continued request of Cascade Heights parents.

This forum will also be discussing how to raise our children with the knowledge of:
  • history of race and racism in the United States
  • historical and systemic racism
  • language to disrupt racial microaggressions
  • using privilege to work towards a more just world
  • inherent bias and privilege within our own lives
This group will be a safe place for those who want to learn, ask the hard questions, and grow together. Our first book will be White Fragility: Why Understanding Racism Can Be Hard for White People: Adapted for Young Adults by Robin Diangelo. Here is the Amazon link for the book: https://a.co/d/6rCnKrO

At this time, we do not have arrangements made for childcare, the group will be for adults only. This group will be meeting once a month at Cascade Heights in the library from 6:30-7:30. Meeting Dates for the 2023-2024 school year will be:
  • September 11
  • October 9
  • November 6
  • December 11
  • January 8
  • February 12
  • March 11
  • April 8
  • May 13
We look forward to growing with you.
Thank you!
Carrie Blake
