A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD CHAIRMAN, JESSE LAYTON:
RE: Cascade Heights Culture Committee
Dear CHPCS community,
Over the years, Cascade Heights Public Charter School has seen many changes, and from our humble beginnings we have developed a strong culture with a unique identity. Although new faces breathe life into our identity each year, it is imperative that we nurture and protect our culture, as the connection to our past, and the blueprint for everything we hope to become.
As board chair I would like to call on parents, staff, students and community members to come together and help strengthen our culture. By forming a committee to actively promote the values of Cascade Heights in all of our attitudes, spirits, and behaviors I am confident we can continue to build upon our identity, towards the goals of our mission.
Please join me at 6:30pm on Wednesday August 13th in the school library for the kick-off of this important committee.
CHINESE SUMMER CAMP A HUGE SUCCESS
11 Chinese students experienced two weeks of American life as well as intense English instruction through Riggs training and Theatre and Basketball. This camp was organized by our Chinese teacher, Wenny Liaoshi. Teachers were Mrs. Adams, Mr. Weaver and Miss Dana'y. There were lots of tears at the end which is a good way for us to remember that "friendship is the only cement that will hold the world together".
...AND SPEAKING OF CHINESE....
As one of only 357 Confucius classrooms in the United States and a three year wait we have the opportunity for a teacher from China to join our staff for the next year! Wange Cao, a teacher from Gongyi City, is an expert in Kungfu, Chinese paper cutting and Chinese knots, has four years of teaching experience (middle school and second grade) speaks Level 6 English and teaches Chinese as a second language to native English speakers in China. Wange Cao has also taught in Indonesia.
Would you like to have the benefit of a teacher in your home this school year? It could be for a month or two months, or the whole year. Having an extra experienced teacher in our building at no cost is invaluable to us, having a teacher in your home would be great experience and very helpful too!
We have a very short time to decide if this can be a possibility for us, so please respond soon.
PTA CLEAN UP WORK PARTY TIME TO SPIFF UP OUR SCHOOL AND MAKE IT SPARKLE FOR OPENING!
Our district has shampooed all 44,000 square feet of carpet and stripped and waxes our floors (including the gym). It looks wonderful! But there is always more to do
Thank you already to the Skinner family who has spent hours and hours this summer trimming the trees around the perimeter of the playground and cutting back the shrubs around the parking lot. It looks wonderful!
