KINDERGARTEN LOTTERY

All applications are due by 4pm on March 3

A reminder that siblings of current CHPCS students must submit an application by the deadline on March 3, like all other families, to be in the lottery for Kindergarten. Children 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2016 are eligible. Applications are available in the office or online. The lottery will be held on March 11 at 7:45am in the office. All lotteries are open to the public; however, families do not need to attend to be eligible for acceptance and will not be able to accept the offer for enrollment at the lottery. Families will receive a letter notifying them of the results of the lottery with directions on accepting if they have been offered a position. Deadline for acceptance is March 28 at 4pm.

BOB COUNTDOWN

Is your reader ready?

Battle of the Books battles will begin in just a couple of weeks on Monday, February 22. The excitement at school is building! Which class will take home the trophy? All of the classes are working hard and we can't wait to see what happens when they face off head to head.

Battle of the Books Related Family Outing with Mrs. Adams

Did your student read Roller Girl for Battle of the Books? Were you intrigued and want to know more about roller derby? Want to meet the skaters that inspired the characters? Roller Girl was written by a Portland roller derby skater and most of the characters featured are real.

I've contacted Rose City Rollers and set up a special group rate just for Cascade Heights families. Join me on February 28th from 12:30 - 3:00 at Oaks Park for the Portland junior roller derby championships. We might even get to meet the author and the skaters featured in the story. Tickets are $7.00 a person. If you'd like to attend, please let me know. I have to reserve our spots no later than February 18th.

BOOK FAIR IS COMING!

February 22nd — 25th

Thanks again to our Book Fair team, Mrs. Zundel and Mrs. Langston, who will be spearheading this popular event. There will be some days the fair will open all day, including time for students to come in during lunch. Watch for the schedule and more details to come. Winter is a great time of year for new books!

LIONS RECYCLE FOR SIGHT PROGRAM

During the month of February

Third grade is collecting used eyeglasses and sunglasses for the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. Donate glasses and change someone's life. Imagine if you could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, or a senior maintain her independence. Donation boxes will be displayed near the office and throughout the school. All types of glasses for children and adults are needed, including very strong and very weak prescriptions. Reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses are also useful. Every pair can change the life of someone - thank you for your help! (Used hearing aids are also accepted.)

REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR BOX TOPS!

Every box top counts

Thank you to everyone who has sent in Box Tops in the past two weeks. We earned over $180 - let’s keep up the good work!

Box Tops For Education can be found on hundreds of grocery store products so don’t throw those packages away until you have cut them out! Each box top is worth 10¢. We are sending new collection forms home today. As you fill it, please make sure the box tops are not expired. If you need more forms or want to give them out to grandparents, family, friends, neighbors or coworkers, download them from the link below or pick one up at the school. THANKS for your support.
