Evening performance at 6pm in the CHPCS Gym.
Thanks to Mrs. LeMay, costume designer extraordinaire, Mrs. Haight-Stott, and her theatre tech team, and of course Mrs. Venture and our talented 7th grade, today’s performances will be a Shakespearean extravaganza. Don’t miss it.
BOOK FAIR TO HAVE EXTENDED DATES

Friday, February 26 has been added to the schedule and Book Fair will be open all day. There will also be some school days the fair will open all day, including time for students to come in during lunch -- TBA. Winter is a great time of year for new books! Come check out this season's selection.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Battles will begin on Monday, February 22
The excitement at school is palpable! All of the classes are working hard and we can't wait to see which class will take home the trophy.
Battle of the Books Related Family Outing with Mrs. Adams
Please RSVP by February 18th
Roller Girl, one of this year’s Battle of the Books selections, was written by a Portland roller derby skater and most of the characters featured are real.
Join me on February 28th from 12:30 - 3:00 at Oaks Park for the Portland Junior Roller Derby Championships. I've contacted Rose City Rollers and set up a special group rate just for Cascade Heights’ families. We might even get to meet the author and the skaters featured in the story.
Tickets are $7.00 a person. If you'd like to attend, please let me know no later than February 18th so I can reserve enough spots.
CALLING ALL KINDERGARTENERS FOR NEXT FALL!
Applications are due by 4pm on March 3
Siblings of current CHPCS students must submit an application by the deadline on March 3, like all other families, to be in the lottery for Kindergarten. Children 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2016 are eligible. Applications are available in the office or online. The lottery will be held on March 11 at 7:45am in the office. All lotteries are open to the public; however, families do not need to attend to be eligible for acceptance and will not be able to accept the offer for enrollment at the lottery. Families will receive a letter notifying them of the results of the lottery with directions on accepting if they have been offered a position. Deadline for acceptance is March 28 at 4pm. We look forward to welcoming the next class of Falcons!
SUPER READER CLUB
A super volunteer opportunity
Cascade Heights is looking for volunteers to visit our new library and listen to one of our wonderful Falcons read a book to them. Readers will be awaiting your arrival in the library at 2:45pm and will return to class at 3:15pm. Please join us any day that works for you!
LIONS RECYCLE FOR SIGHT PROGRAM
Bring in your old eye glasses and sunglasses
During February, third grade is collecting used eyeglasses and sunglasses for the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. All types of glasses for children and adults are needed, including very strong and very weak prescriptions. Reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses are also useful. Every pair can change the life of someone - thank you for your help! (Used hearing aids are also accepted.)
REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR BOX TOPS!
Every box top counts
Box Tops for Education is an easy way for everyone to raise funds for our school. If you need more collection forms or want to give them out to grandparents, family, friends, neighbors or coworkers, download them from the link below or pick one up at the school. THANKS for your support.
PTA FAMILY NIGHT OUT
McMenamin's on Sunnyside
Monday, February 29. 5pm to close.
For those who are unfamiliar with PTA Family Night Out fundraisers, this is how it works: Come to the restaurant to hang out with your fellow Falcon families. Bring your family, friends, neighbors, great Aunt Jean, and whoever else wants to join us. When you order, tell them you are with Cascade Heights and the restaurant donates part of their profit to the PTA. You get an enjoyable night out with family and friends and the PTA makes some money. Easy!
The percentage is determined by the restaurant. For this event, McMenamins will donate 50% of the sales to CHPCS-PTA after 5pm. Eating dinner at a restaurant when you know everyone is fun – it’s like our own private party. Hope to see you there!
